Ahh Yorkshire… the home of national parks, the Bronte sisters, and everyone’s Sunday roast favourite, Yorkshire puddings. As a straight-talking Yorkshireman once said, “I say what I like, and I like what I say” – and at Super Break we’re certainly no different. When it comes to this giant county (the largest in England don’t you know), we like to think of ourselves as somewhat experts. Our head office is based in York after all! From city breaks to seaside resorts and countryside retreats, here’s what this northern county has to offer…

Best of City: York

Call us biased, but the ancient city of York is quite possibly the jewel in Yorkshire’s crown. From quaint tea rooms and cobbled streets, to the city walls and iconic York Minster, expect beauty and history at every turn. The museums are fascinating, the markets are bustling, and the chocolate-box laneways are almost too pretty for words. Not sure where to start? The Jorvik Viking Centre, York Dungeon, and York’s Chocolate Story are sure to impress.

Best of Countryside: Grassington

With a population of just 1,000 people, Grassington is a bustling market town with the antiquated charm of an intimate village. Tourists flock to the community year after year to enjoy its traditional pubs, independent shops, and surrounding Yorkshire Dales scenery. It may be small, but it certainly packs a punch with its annual calendar of events – the most popular being the Grassington Festival, the Dickensian Festival, and their 1940s weekend.

Best of Coast: Whitby

Home to Blue Flag beaches and some of the best fish and chips in the country, Whitby is a popular seaside resort on the north-east coast of Yorkshire. Not only is the town beautifully picturesque, its varied history and fishing heritage leaves a lot to be discovered. Climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey, uncover the town’s links with Dracula on the Dracula Experience, or head to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum to learn about the Whitby-built HMS Endeavour.
Whether you’re a city, coast, or countryside enthusiast, Yorkshire well and truly has you covered! Need help booking your next getaway? Head over to Super Break and let us do the hard work for you!
