Every year London’s Trafalgar Square receive a magnificent Norwegian Christmas Tree as a gift from the people of Oslo for Britain’s support during WWII. And what better way to celebrate this heart-warming friendship than with a festive Christmas light switch on?! The evergreen tree is a popular focal point for Christmas lovers in the capital with many flocking to see the big switch on every year. You can also listen (or sing-a-long with) traditional choirs performing in the square to really enjoy those festive vibes.

Wakehurst Place, West Sussex

Looking for the largest Christmas tree in the UK? Head to West Sussex’s Wakehurst Place this winter and you will find it. The giant redwood tree that lives there reaches a staggering 121ft tall and is proudly renowned as Britain’s largest Christmas tree. Last year’s Xmas decorations included an amazing 2,000ft of festive lights delicately placed by expert (and extremely brave) tree climbers, and this year promises to be just as spectacular!

Set in the tiny village and fishing port of Mousehole in Cornwall, the festive season begins in the harbour with an array of truly pretty and colourful Christmas lights. Its Yorkshire’s very own Winter Wonderland and the perfect place to watch the Christmas light switch on. Held at McCarthur Glen York Designer Outlet complete with ice skating rink, wooden cabins, an illuminated forest and of course, a 30ft Christmas tree, you can really enjoy the beginning of the festive fun in York this winter!
