If you want the Christmas feel-good-factor for the festive period, you could do no better than going to see the musical White Christmas at London’s Dominion Theatre. You leave the show with a smile on your face and are a little disappointed if it’s not snowing outside.

I attended the Saturday matinee performance of the show with my 81 year old Mum, who was a big fan of the original film.

Aled Jones as the lead was a little wooden with his acting, but hey! He is a singer and more than made up for the acting with his voice. He gave a very creditable acting performance and certainly put his heart and soul into it.

In my, and my Mum’s opinion, the star of the show was Wendi Peters. Her acting, of course, was great. She really brought out the comedy element of her role, but it was her singing voice which was the biggest surprise! My Mum made mention of her voice reminding her of Ethel Merman who, as anyone of a certain age would know, was one of the big stars of musical films in the 1950s.

I would certainly recommend this show to anyone – the audience when we were there was made up of all age groups. It leaves you feeling good all over!
