With the weather turning warmer and long weekends ahead now is the perfect opportunity to head to one of the UK’s award winning beaches for a great day out or relaxing weekend break.
Across the country there are a host of long reaching sandy beaches perfect for all the family. With many awarded blue flag status you can be assured of excellent quality sand and clear crisp sea. From the South Coast of England, to cosy beaches in North Yorkshire and hidden gems of Wales and Ireland there are plenty of beautiful beaches to choose from. Here is a small selection of some of the award winning beaches throughout the UK.
Four of Bournemouth’s beaches have been awarded the blue flag. Spreading across seven miles there is something for everyone. From relaxing beach chalets to exhilarating watersports and picturesque scenery staying in Bournemouth hotels you are close to it all.
Whitby West Cliff, Yorkshire
At the heart of the Yorkshire Coast, Whitby is a town full of character and home to one of the county’s best beaches. The West Cliff beach stretches out as far as the eye can see, with iconic beach huts, hidden caves and historic pier it is an ideal place to spend the day.
With unspoilt beaches and historic town walls Tenby is a hugely popular destination. Set in Pembrokeshire Tenby offers a beautiful resort with plenty to do. From surfing to paragliding, walking along the beach to visiting the medieval castle there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
Within easy reach of the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge and the Bushmills distillery the small beach of Portrush offers a secluded haven. Close to the town of Coleraine there is plenty to do in this small resort.
