The theme park season is officially over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a great day out! Whether you’re simply looking for a treat day, a cultural break at a historic landmark, or a fun getaway for the whole family, we have the attraction package for you! With top tips on where to head this year, here’s our list of the top attractions to visit this winter…
Harry Potter Studio Tour
Magical at any time of year, the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour is understandably one of our most popular attractions in the wintertime. Featuring great temporary exhibitions, the film sets never look more impressive than when covered in a blanket of snow, and the Christmas decorations around the dorms and in the great hall are as awe-inspiring and inviting as in the films themselves. Who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas at Hogwarts?! A great treat for the family – whether as part of a London break, or just a trip by itself – the Harry Potter Studio Tour is a must this winter!
Easily one of my favourite things about winter, eating way too much chocolate is one of the perks of the festive season. Go the whole hog and find yourself at the UK’s chocolatiest attraction – Cadbury World – this year and enjoy learning about the history of chocolate, the fun rides, and the 4D Cinema. See how all of your favourite Cadbury brands are made (before demolishing them on the car journey home!) – a must for chocolate-lovers and families. Throughout November and December, Cadbury World host Christmas Celebration Weekends that include a pantomime, Santa’s stage show and fantastically creative carvings made entirely out of chocolate!
Escapism at its best, enjoy a slice of the exotic at Chester Zoo this winter. Britain’s favourite Zoo is as popular as ever in the cooler months – the sheer size of the place means you can easily spend a whole day there, simply enjoying a walk around. Inspired by the wildlife of Indonesia, new attraction ‘Islands at Chester Zoo’ is a great addition opened earlier this year, and makes the Zoo well worth revisiting if you haven’t been recently. It’s also a great excuse to make a break of it and visit pretty Chester too!
Always fancied visiting Edinburgh? Already been? Either way this magical city is perfect in the winter time. Most visitors will be off to shop on the Royal Mile in the run up to Christmas or in the January sales, which makes it the ideal time to visit Edinburgh’s top attractions instead! We love Edinburgh Castle – a terrific setting in which to enjoy Afternoon Tea! – and also can’t recommend the swish Palace of Holyroodhouse and the fascinating Royal Yacht Britannia enough too. The perfect way to enjoy the very best of Edinburgh’s historic attractions, select a Royal Edinburgh ticket package and hotel this winter!
Always Central London’s most popular attraction, the London Eye has visitors going again and again. Great for seeing the Houses of Parliament, the South Bank, the Thames and the Tower of London from above, views of the capital get even cooler after dark. Take advantage of the darker evenings this winter and book a flight on the London Eye on your next short break!
