The little glimmer of sun we’ve had over the last couple of weeks has put me right in the mood for holidays, and hopefully it has you too! I can’t wait to sun myself silly while drinking cocktails all the live-long day, but alas, summer is still 3 months away! So, what do we do in the meantime? Take a spring break of course.

Springtime in London offers a fantastic range of activities to suit all personalities, budgets and weathers (we all know how unpredictable British weather can be?!). This was highlighted perfectly to us last week when a lovely lady from Merlin Attractions visited us to tell us all about what’s happening in London this spring. From seeing the sights on the London Eye and celeb hunting at Madame Tussauds to braving the London Dungeons and getting deep with the fishes at London’s SEA LIFE Aquarium…there’s an attraction out there with your name on it!

The SuperBreak team learnt lots of interesting facts about these wonderful Merlin Attractions, and well, it’s only fair we share…

EDF Energy The London Eye

Recommended time allowance: 1hr

To start, I’m going to throw some interesting stats at you…are you ready? Reaching 135 metres high this iconic London attraction is the perfect way gaze across the Capital’s beautiful city skyline. Taking your place in one of the 32 capsules, you can enjoy a 30 minute leisurely ride with views of up to 25 miles across London. Not only is it a place for families and keen tourists, The London Eye also boasts a reputation for spreading the love. This Valentine’s Day, 23 proposals took place on the attraction and our sources reveal everyone said yes – thankfully! So, boys (or girls) if you’re thinking of popping the question anytime soon, The London Eye might just be the place to do it!

If you’ve already ticked The Eye off your London sightseeing bucket list, then perhaps we can interest you in some experiences worthy of a second visit. The London Eye Champagne Tasting and Wine Tasting capsules offer a little sophistication and glamour while taking in those breath-taking views. For chocolate lovers the Hotel Chocolat capsule is the perfect choice for a mouth-watering experience PLUS you get an exciting goodie bag! Or, finally why not treat yourself to the limited edition Afternoon Tea Experience complete with lots of delicious treats and a cheeky glass of Pommery Brut Champagne – perfect for a last minute Mother’s Day gift if you’re still hunting!

For those thinking they’ve seen it all on The London Eye, we challenge to experience something a little different this spring.

Madame Tussauds London

Recommended time allowance: 2hr 30min

These incredibly life-like wax models are the closest most of us will ever get to meeting our celebrity heroes, and for me that’s a fantastic reason to visit Madame Tussauds in London. Aside from marvelling into the eyes of your celeb crush, you might be interested to know some of the goings-on behind these amazing wax figures…

It takes 4 whole months plus 20 artists to create one of these models, and 6 weeks of this is spent on creating the head of hair alone. Costing a staggering £150,000 each, these amazing figures come at a pricey cost so be careful when posing next Brad Pitt, who might I add, has a squishy bum to enjoy!

Many of the celebrities like to donate their own clothing for the waxworks on a regular basis, including the legendary songstress Beyoncé – we wouldn’t want her to look out of date would we?! Some celebrities even make a return to Madame Tussauds to get brand new wax models created. This year will see Victoria and Beckham celebrate their 15th Wedding Anniversary, and of course a brand new waxwork will be created in their honour. Her Majesty the Queen is a favourite at Madame Tussauds in London, with 23 different figures under her belt to date.

From Hollywood’s finest movie stars and world-class athletes to pop music sensations and Marvel Super Heroes, whatever or whoever you fancy, you’re bound to find them at Madame Tussauds London.

For an extra thrill, the Drop Dead Ride to Doom offers you an exhilarating experience you’ll never forget! As well as discovering what a ‘long drop’ is and what a cracking neck sounds like, you’ll fall faster than gravity for the ultimate finish to your London Dungeon tour.

This year, the colourful Moshling’s will be making their way the SEA LIFE London Aquarium with a mission to help save our marine creatures. Us boring grown-ups probably won’t understand the excitement behind the new Moshi Marine Force but I guarantee your kids will be ecstatic! From trading their Moshling figures in the swop zone to finding missing Moshlings in exchange for a brand new exclusive one, you’ll never see excitement quite like it in an aquarium again!
