It’ll be the happiest day of your life and you’ll remember it forever, but boy is planning a wedding stressful! I myself am currently planning my own wedding, so I know from first hand experience just how much it can take its toll. You stress about looking your best, but you don’t look your best because you’re stressed! It’s a vicious circle, and I think a UK spa break is a brilliant way to regain some inner peace ahead of the big day. Now, the thought of booking a spa break instantly makes you think, ‘How much will it cost me?’, but fear not, as there are packages to suit all budgets, as well as all skin types, and all bodily aches and pains. Whether it’s a relaxing massage to help diminish those tired muscles, a soothing manicure to have your hands looking their best for when you’re showing off your ring, or a revitalising facial so you look as amazing as you feel when you say ‘I do’, you’ll feel like a brand new person, ready and raring to get married. Our groups department can also take care of everything should you fancy taking all of your friends with you too… let’s face it; they’re probably as stressed as you! We’ve found our favourite spa packages from around the UK that offer something for everyone, so you can see the variety on offer and choose what’s best for you. Oh, and congrats!
City Centre Location
As much as you fancy going to the spa to relax, it’s always nice to have things to do in the evening too. Edinburgh is one of the cities to visit pre-wedding, whether it’s a hen do or just a getaway weekend. Not only does it have some of the most popular bars in the UK, but its restaurant scene and abundance of luxury shops make it a haven for any woman wanting some time away from the everyday stresses of planning. Our spa package at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel offers a 30 minute Aroma back relief massage and a 30 minute Aroma time precious facial per person, plus a yummy breakfast in the morning to help you on your way home. The perfect combo of body therapy, and retail therapy.
If you really want to escape, why not put yourself on a tiny island in the middle of the English Channel? Jersey is becoming ever more popular with people looking to completely remove themselves from the bustling city lifestyle. Its luscious landscapes and crystal clear waters make it hard to believe that you’re still in Britain, and a huge range of haute cuisine restaurants add to the idea of being away from the UK. The 5* Club Hotel & Spa provides guests with a 4AA rosette Michelin Star restaurant, luxury facilities and amenities, and a fabulous roof terrace to enjoy their famous cocktails and champagne. The spa also offers some rather fancy additions, including salt pools, a hydrotherapy bench and many other fantastic services.
On a Budget
If, like me, you’re putting every penny into the wedding day itself, it can leave little room for selfish spa break spending, and you’ve probably written off a trip away altogether. But, there are packages out there that allow for even the tightest of purse strings and provide just as much relaxation as the rest. The Hilton St Annes Manor, Bracknell offers guests a massage or facial (whichever takes your fancy), a bottle of wine and fruit basket on arrival, full use of all leisure facilities including robes and slippers and dinner on every night or your stay. At only £74.50pp, this impressive building in Royal Berkshire, with all of facilities you could possibly need proves you don’t have to spend, spend, spend.
The Life of Luxury
If you want to really go all out and spoil yourself rotten on your UK spa break, there are plenty of options available. Clearly, hotels must know of the traumas us wedding planners go through, and therefore offer us treatments and lavishness we simply can’t refuse. If you feel the need to give into temptation and blow the remaining budget, check out the Cedar Court Grand Hotel, York for complete opulence and the life of a celeb. Not only is it located in the fabulous (I’m very biased) city of York, but it’s in the city centre. It’s the only 5* in the city, and a five minute walk from the train station means getting there is easy. A bespoke treatment allows you to choose whatever you feel your body needs, and a delightful afternoon tea plus continental breakfast tops off your amazing stay perfectly. The facilities at this hotel are second to none, and for a slice of luxury living you won’t find many places that are better.
A traditional spa break to me means a grand old mansion in the middle of nothing but fields and lakes, surrounded by wildlife and not a main road in sight. It sounds like heaven, right? When I head out on my UK spa break (Oh yes, I’m definitely having one!), a country retreat is exactly what I’ll be looking for, and The North Lakes Hotel & Spa is a perfect example of the ‘ideal’ spa break. Set in the glorious surroundings of Penrith and Cumbria, you can lie back in the 12 meter heated pool or head to the steam room and whirlpool for a full day of relaxation. In the evening, sit out on the terrace for a great view out over the lakes, followed by a cosy nightcap around any of seven real log fires.
