If ever you needed a reason to hop on the train and visit Scotland then the opening of the new National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh is it! After an incredible £47 million pound makeover the museum is barely recognisable from what it once was and is sure to be a hit with adults and children alike. The three year restoration programme has seen the original interior restored and many storage areas turned into public spaces making this one of the UKs largest museums.

The museum is jam packed with treasures and scientific, cultural and historic marvels and as you make your way through the new exhibitions will find yourself coming face to face with a T rex dinosaur, a great white shark among others! The museum houses over 8000 objects and will take visitors on a journey from Ancient Egypt to the most cutting edge of technology.

Thousands of objects which are on display for the first time are expected to draw huge crowds of visitors to Edinburgh. If you fancy heading to see the museum for yourself and aren’t a local it’s the perfect opportunity to turn it into a short break and stay at one of the many hotels in Edinburgh city centre.

Are you planning on visiting the revamped National Museum of Scotland? We would love to hear from you.
