Mercure Brandon Hall Hotel Spa Weekend Review

It’s coming round to that time of year when my mum starts asking what I want for my birthday. Once again I can’t think of anything I need, so will suggest we head off for a spa weekend like we did last year. My mum really loved where we stayed before so I thought I’d take a look back at the hotel to see if it can lure me over the appeal of trying somewhere new.

We stayed at the Mercure Brandon Hall Hotel near Coventry last October. The hotel is housed in a gorgeous white-washed 19th-century manor house set within 17 acres of picturesque grounds. When we arrived there was a wedding going on which is testament to how pretty the setting really was.

We’d booked ourselves on a pampering spa break so after dropping off our bags we headed into the spa which is located adjacent to the main house in a purpose built annexe. The modern and bright spa complex has a really relaxing atmosphere and I was really impressed with the size of the swimming pool. We’d been given complimentary robes and slippers so snuggled up on poolside loungers with our books until it was time for our treatments.

Both myself and my mum had opted for back and neck massages which turned out to be divinely soothing. I almost fell asleep on the table I was so relaxed, and only snapped back to consciousness when I realised I was about to dribble through the hole! After our indulgent massages we flopped out in the sauna and steam rooms before trying to wake ourselves up under the ultra-powerful massage showers.

After we’d started to prune we headed back over to the main hotel where we collected the keys to our room. It was a little old-fashioned for my taste but was perfectly clean and cosy. We changed for our evening meal and headed down to the Clarendon Restaurant.

Our spa package included a complimentary dinner from the set menu which turned out to be really good value. The food was delicious but both myself and my mum were so relaxed and sleepy we could hardly keep our eyes open! Needless to say we scrapped our original plans to have drinks in the Bewick Bar, which looked really warm and cosy, and headed straight to bed after we’d scoffed our desserts. We checked out the next morning following an impressive breakfast and as we drove away from the hotel I felt totally refreshed and satisfied that we’d had such a lovely time.

As much as we did have an amazing time at the Mercure Brandon Hall, the temptation is too great to try somewhere new for my upcoming birthday. After scanning through the Spa Breaks we’ve got on offer I’ve got my eye on the Hilton Puckrup Hall Pamper Package. Watch this space for a review!
