Travel Ideas

It seems like a lifetime since Easter Monday brought us a more than welcome day off, but finally May has arrived and the first of its two lovely Bank Holidays are upon us. With the weather (fingers crossed) looking like it’s going to be nice, making the most of that extra day off is all the more important. Whether it’s a theme park break, a trip to the seaside, a romantic trip for two to the capital or anything else you can think of, make sure you make this Bank Holiday one to remember! Here are my top 5 ideas on how to use your extra day of freedom…

Top Hat the Musical
Top hat recently won the 2013 Olivier Award for Best New Musical!

Head to the theatre, darling…

After a rather glitzy Olivier Awards at the start of this week, you now have the best idea of what the top shows are right now! The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night Time scooped a very impressive 7 awards this year, with Top Hat winning the all important Best New Musical Award, so get your glad rags on and hit the Apollo Theatre this weekend!

Face your fears at a theme park…

With the UK boasting some of the biggest and baddest rides in the world, plunging from 100ft in the air and travelling at 70mph around a triple-loop has never been easier! As always, a new season brings new rides and the likes of AltonTowers and BlackpoolPleasureBeach have not disappointed. The Smiler is the newest addition to AltonTowers and opens in May, promising to mess with both your body and mind. If you’re brave enough, grab you friends and book your tickets here.

Enjoy the Great British seaside…

Is there anything more British than packing your deckchair and picking the best spot on a freezing cold beach, preferably with fish ‘n’ chips in hand? Well, hopefully the weather will be warmer than we’re used to and you can make the most of our wonderful Blue Flag beaches that are dotted around the UK. One particular favourite is the picturesque coastal town of Falmouth. Why not make a family weekend of it and make the most of some south-west sun?

Take a girly shopping spree…

Let’s face it, to the majority of the female species and extra day off is an extra day to shop! So, if like me you’re just desperate for a whole new summer wardrobe, why not plan a girly weekend to somewhere like Manchester, Newcastle or Birmingham for some well-deserved retail therapy? I’m sure there’ll be some time for cocktails at some point too…

Arrange a boy’s night out…

Don’t worry boys, we haven’t forgotten about you! While your other half is off making the most of the credit card, get your friends together and make a boys weekend of it. Right now, we’re offering VIP entry into Tiger Tiger at numerous locations around the country, plus special packages to make your night out even better! Or, if you fancy a bit more than just the usual bar scene, take a look at our brand new poker nights where you get a lesson in how to play, a delicious 3-course meal and free play in one of London’s best casinos! Don’t forget your poker face!

What have you got planned for this may Bank Holiday?
