Ten weeks of live shows, a couple of wildcards, Gamu-gate, a few surprise duet songs later and we have our X-Factor winner, in the shape of painter and decorator Matt. With a cover of Biffy Clyros Many Of Horror (When We Collide) Matt was joined on stage with the other hopefuls and his mentor Dannii Minogue as he celebrated his victory.
So that’s it over for another year, but it has not come around without the show being surrounded in controversy right from the start. The final line up for the 2011 crown was in the form of boy band One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle and from the off it was anyone’s game. Cher left first on Saturday leaving the final 3 to battle it out on Sundays show; next to leave were One Direction much to the surprise of mentor Simon Cowell. This left favourites Rebecca and Matt to perform the winners single with Matt eventually taking the win.
The show was reportedly watched by over 20 million people so when the X-Factor eventually goes on tour and hits London there will be no shortage of people wanting to catch their favourite acts live. With viewing figures like that Matt’s single is almost sure to go straight in at number one, unless there is a repeat of last years Rage Against The Machine Vs. Joe Mcelderry battle.
So what’s next? I hear you cry. With Strictly Come Dancing almost at an end we still have a good few weeks to go before Dancing on Ice and Britain’s Got Talent are back on our screens. Let’s hope they are ready to fill an X-Factor sized hole.
What do you think about this year’s winner, will you be catching any of the tour dates?
