The magical festival of lights that is Luminere is making its way to the UK City of Culture 2013 for this years’ celebrations. Derry~Londonderry will be awash with bright lights, lasers, neon balloon dogs, an interactive forest and who knows what else when the show comes to town for four nights from the 28th November to 1st December 2013.
Closing the city’s events in honour of its cultural title, the festival will undoubtedly amaze residents and visitors alike. The 2012 Luminere took place in Durham, will transform familiar city landmarks, buildings, hidden spaces, parks and waterways into a magical nocturnal landscape of artworks made from light that sets out to amaze, delight, and stop people in their tracks.
The incredible display is put together by Artichoke, who work closely with local groups to to make sure peple from every walk of life can get involved in this huge project. As part of its lasting legacy, the wider ambition of the festival is to make people to see the city in new ways. I know I definitely will!
