With just under a week to go until Edinburgh’s International film festival the city is getting ready for its superb summer of festivals. Starting from mid June Edinburgh is home to an array of spectacular festivals and will see millions of people descend on the city to be part of these world renowned events. From the Majestic Royal Edinburgh Tattoo, to the famed Fringe festival and more in between Edinburgh is brimming with culture and buzzing with a vibrant atmosphere across the summer.
Tickets for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival go on sale tomorrow and people are already planning their Edinburgh breaks around this astounding event. Host to award winning comedians, playwrights and a great variety of street performers, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world’s largest Arts festival. This year the festival will feature a colossal 2,542 shows, making it the biggest festival yet. With the Edinburgh International Festival and Book Festival all taking place throughout August Edinburgh is full of music, arts, culture and comedy.
The Fringe festival is also host to the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards formerly the Perrier Comedy Award. Previous winners include Sean Hughes, Lee Evans, Dylan Moran and Al Murray, with nominations for the accolade including Armstrong and Miller, Alan Davies, Jason Manford and Russell Howard.
