Superbreak’s Groups and Specialist Sales Advisor, Dave Fox and Sales Executive, Donna Smithson were lucky enough to see the wonderful Michael Bublé live at the London O2 Arena last week. Read on to find out what they thought…
What event did you go to see and why?
Dave: I went with my wife to see Michael Bublé at the O2, I have always been a big fan of the rat pack and the music from that era, Michael Bublé’s covers are very good and his original stuff seems to follow that style.
Donner: Michael Bublé, Christmas present for my Mum!
What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
Dave: I was surprised at how good the performance was, from the support act all the way through there was not a dull moment. The set-up, pyrotechnics, the big band sound; it was all there and surpassed my expectations. My wife was over the moon as she will swear that “he was only singing to her”, I am fairly sure the other 15,000 ladies there all thought the same thing.
Donna: Fantastic and exceeded expectations.
Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
Dave: I have been to the O2 many times and I am always impressed by the set-up and the staff. Nothing seems too much trouble and they’re always very pleasant and approachable.
Donna: No been before great venue facilities outstanding.
Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?
Dave: This time we ate in the box, and again very pleasantly surprised, it is not the most varied menu but the food was tasty and relatively speaking, cheap. In my opinion a better option than dining in the franchises downstairs.
Donna: Yes we ate before the concert at the O2 and was a great way to start the evening.
Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
Dave: We stayed at the Mercure London Greenwich, a very nice hotel and a very comfortable room, (the air con was a god send!) a good location and only 2 or 3 miles from the O2.
Donna: Did not stay on this occasion.
How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
Dave: We found the easiest way to the venue was DLR (Deptford station only 100 yards from the hotel) to Canary Wharf and the tube to North Greenwich, the number 188 bus goes from Greenwich itself but at that time of day in that heat we decided on the trains.
Donna: We drove to the O2 from Kent very easy to get to.
How does The O2 compare to other venues?
Dave: I like the simplicity of the O2, you go, sit eat and drink, watch the show and return to the hotel, in my opinion better than trawling round a field somewhere, much more civilised!
Donna: As good and better than some.
Have any other events caught your eye this year?
Dave: That’s it for this year but we are at Miranda in 2014.
Donna: Yes many… Jessie J, Lee Evans.
