Having been offered the opportunity of taking visit to Blackpool organised by the wonderful Superbreak team, Karen Bradley grabbed it with both hands. The last time she had visited Blackpool was at the tender age of 14 with her parents and extended family so she was eager to see any changes and experience the Blackpool of today. This is what she got up to on day 2 of her trip…
Day number two was a cooked breakfast and some relaxation time at The Imperial hotel Blackpool. It had a gym and sauna, huge conference rooms, space for weddings. One of the rooms had the most divine ceiling, an original feature that was uncovered in the 1970s and is now listed. Very impressive! As well as Winston Churchill’s favourite room when he stayed and a bar with mirrors naming all the prime ministers whom have stayed over the years.
A short taxi ride later we were at Blackpool Zoo, which was really well planned out with plenty of areas for families picnicking. There was lots of opportunities for children to be hands on with some of the animals and the areas where the animals were kept were specially designed to keep them happy and comfortable. The baby gorilla was adorable, the lions and tigers were amazing. And so were the giraffes and elephants. There was lots to keep a family and groups of children occupied for the whole day including the Sea Lion show.
And then…time for the highly awaited BlackpoolPleasureBeach! With our VIP wristbands attached, we were let loose on the rides at the famous theme park! I thought BlackpoolPleasureBeach was a very well managed, organised attraction and it’s clear why almost everybody whom visits Blackpool goes visits it.
There were lots of places to grab a bit to eat and pick up souvenirs. Kids loved getting the opportunity to have pictures taken with Dora the Explorer, Wallace and Gromit and lots more. The rides went from the tame to the excruciatingly scary depending on your taste and fear factor! We stopped for a drink at The Big Blue Hotel attached to the park which was well designed, tasteful and certainly a lot bigger inside than it looked. The Pleasure beach definitely is what it says on the tin!
After goodbyes were said it was time to make our way back home after a fun filled, giggle inducing updated Blackpool trip. With something for all people in all weathers, I would happily return with my son and show him all as I’m sure he would love it as much as I did…my not so guilty pleasure.
