There are a few unexpected destinations that have popped up on our travel radar this year, one of which is Gibraltar. It’s fair to say that it’s had its time in the spotlight recently, and with TV shows like Brits Abroad highlighting its beauty we just can’t resist any longer. So, when we came across a package where as well as enjoying Gibraltar, you can also pay a visit to Africa, we were jumping for joy.

Stunning views of The Rock of Gibraltar

Settled on the Iberian Peninsula with a rather fabulous view out over The Med, Gibraltar is fast becoming a haven for Brits wanting to escape the miserable weather whilst maintaining their home comforts. High street chains like Marks & Spencer and Mothercare are common in retail areas so you’ll be sure to find those things you miss most when away from home.

With a climate 25-28 degrees Celsius during the summer months, it’s no surprise that we’re flocking to Gibraltar for our hols, but how about ‘supeing-up’ this sunny trip and turning it into one heck of a holiday to remember? At the moment, you can add on the Tangier Day Trip excursion and pay a visit to Morocco! The cosmopolitan city of Tangier is the epitome of Moroccan culture, and thanks to a panoramic bus tour you’ll get to enjoy all of its best bits.

Take a day trip to the exciting city of Tangier, Morocco

You’ll venture around the residential district of the Marché aux Boeufs, mountain roads lined with stylish villas, lavish gates and beautiful gardens, the luxurious Governor’s Residence and the King’s Summer Palace. Continuing on, the tour will pass by Jbel el Kbir at Cape Spartel on the Atlantic Coast to the Caves of Hercules, where legend has it Hercules rested after separating Europe from Africa. It goes without saying that you’ll also get a chance to purchase endless souvenirs to take back home with you.

Staying at the 4* Caleta Hotel on Gibraltar, you can add on this fab day trip from as little as £75pp meaning you can enjoy the full package of three nights in Gibraltar plus the tour from only £231pp with full breakfast each morning. If that’s not a short break of a lifetime we don’t know what is!

There’s so much to see and do in Tangier

You can also make the most of your time in Gibraltar with amazing day trips such as dolphin excursions, WWII Tunnel Tours, Original Rock Tours and trip around the picturesque towns of Estepona and Casares. So whether you plan to stay in Gibraltar and make the most of its natural beauty, or hop on over to Africa for the day, this unique destination is definitely on our 2015 bucket list.
