Whether you’re a budding performer, a lover of the arts or a seasoned local, August is undeniably Festival month in Edinburgh. But with thousands of shows all vying for your attention, how do you know which ones to fit into your packed schedule when making the trip north this summer?
Well, we can give you a helping hand here at Superbreak – with a hand-picked Best of the Fest passport giving you A Taste of the Edinburgh Festivals! This exclusive passport gives you tickets to some of the most acclaimed shows taking place in Scotland‘s capital throughout the month.
A trip to Edinburgh in festival season is always a must for me, and this will be the fifth year running that I’ve headed up to see comedy, theatre, music and whatever else takes my fancy when an enthusiastic promoter slips an enticing flyer into my hand on the Royal Mile. Though I have to admit, with so much choice available, it never get any easier to sort the duds from the next-big-things!
There are a few tried-and-tested favourites I always have to see when they’re up, but I’d always recommend trying out something new at the amazing series of events. That’s one of the great things about our Best of the Fest passport – which features three shows chosen by festival critics who really know their stuff.
As well as show tickets and your choice of Edinburgh hotel, the passport will also give discounts in Festival bars and cafes – which are worth seeking out alone! – and advice from those in the know about some of the best places to eat, drink and be merry around the city. Your festival experience doesn’t have to be expensive either, with projects like the Free Fringe and a whole host of street performances being completely free – though it’s always nice to throw in a couple of pounds at the end to show your appreciation and help these artists pay their month’s rent!
If you’re looking for the top events in Edinburgh this August, don’t forget you can still book tickets for one of the most spectacular events of the festival, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo – whether you’re just heading up for one night or taking a couple of days extra to really sink your teeth into the shows and events going on all around the city.
