After Fernando Alonso came 3rd last week in Brazil, being beaten by both Sebastian Vettel in 1st and Mark Webber in 2nd, there are still 4 drivers in contention for the F1 title. As the season heads to the final race in Abu Dhabi this weekend Alonso, Vettel, Webber and even Lewis Hamilton in 4th could still take the F1 championship.
The Red Bull 1st and 2nd finish in Brazil saw the fledgling, 6 year old F1 team beat the likes of Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes to the coveted Constructors Championship. However, despite this fantastic glory, if Fernando Alonso finishes 1st or 2nd in Abu Dhabi he will take the drivers crown for Ferrari, no matter where the Red Bull duo finish the race.
There is also the possibility of Lewis Hamilton winning his second F1 title in Abu Dhabi, although sitting 4th in the standings he would need to win the race and prey the other 3 contenders don’t score any points. In fact it may be safe to say that Hamilton and team mate Jenson Button already have one eye on next year’s F1 championship, which will include a brand new race in India as well as old classics in Italy, Spain and at Silverstone in England.
With an 8 point lead going into the final race, Alonso is the favourite to take the F1 title, but could Webber, Vettel or even Hamilton still snatch the crown?
