My name is Sarah, and I’m a *whispers (or is that wispas?)* chocoholic…
Officially a lover of anything cocoa related, from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to Johnny Depp’s yummy performance as Roux in the movie remake of Joanne Harris’s Chocolat, I am positively sugar-rushing at the thought of the Eurochocolate 2010 Festival.
From chocolate-flavoured pasta to chocolate-scented candles, the sleepy town of Perugia in Italy’s Umbria region is set to burst into frenzied chocolate-fuelled activity between the 15th and 24th of October – and I would pledge my eye teeth to the tooth fairy for a chance to be there.
With carved chocolate boxes, chocolate statues and 7,000 chocolate-selling stalls (from as far afield as Vietnam, Bolivia and Cuba!) taking to the town’s quaint cobbled streets, Eurochocolate is easily one of the world’s largest chocolate celebrations.
And fans looking for calorie-free indulgence can simply look on as some of the world’s best chocolatiers host gastronomy classes, banquets and cookery classes centring on the sweet stuff. Aromatherapy lovers can also indulge in a cocoa facemask treatment or pampering body treatment in chocolate scented surrounds.
But don’t worry if you can’t make the medium-haul, chocolate fans – I’ve also found plenty of temptation closer to home as well…
