Following on from yesterday’s blog the Superbreak team are currently in the heart of the Midlands visiting several of the Barceló hotels.

Saturday 16th July

As we pulled up to the Barceló Lygon Arms we were taken aback by the absolute beauty of Broadway in the Cotswolds and as we stepped inside the hotel we were not disappointed. We had a quick break for a spot of afternoon tea (FYI we didn’t spend the WHOLE trip eating, it was just a small perk 🙂 ) we toured around this luxury country retreat. Some of the bedrooms located in the main house at the Lygon Arms date back to 1532 and for those staying the Garden and Orchard wings you won’t be disappointed with the stunning rooms on offer.

Feeling incredible stuffed and with time against us we once again set off on our way, this time to the Barceló Oxford Hotel. The Oxford Hotel is just a couple of miles from Oxford centre and features a health club with a small pool and two squash courts as well as an AA Rosette awarded Restaurant. The hotel features 168 bedrooms and is perfect for visiting Oxford and the surrounding areas. After a quick show round by our host Zarin we were ready to make our way to the final hotel.

After a very busy day we once again headed for the coach and to our final destination of the day the Barceló Daventry Hotel, Northamptonshire. After checking into our rooms we settled down for the evening in the fantastic FUEL restaurant where we enjoyed good food and company before a quick chat with the Daventry’s very friendly Chef, who popped out to make sure we were all very well looked after. The Daventry Hotel is only 12 miles from Rugby and 20 miles from Northamptonshire but you could easily spend your day in the hotel with its fantastic leisure club and giant games for children young and old in the courtyard.

Sunday 17th July

Early on Sunday morning we set off to the final stop on our list Barceló Hinckley Island. Hinckley is one of the leading 4* hotels in Leicestershire and is perfect for visiting Coventry or Leicestershire itself. Incredibly family friendly this hotel features the Triumph Bar, with its very own Triumph Motorcycle! Which of course gave us the perfect way to end our trip as we gathered together and posed in front of the magnificent bar and bike.

After a long train journey back to York we arrived very tired after a truly fantastic weekend.

Have you visited any of the Barceló hotels we did on our trip? Let us know what you think.
