Like the much loved hymn from school Autumn days are definitely here, from the rain scented gardens to home baked apple pies the autumn is drifting in. With the brisk winds and colder weather the idea of a nice cosy country retreat sounds idyllic. From fireside seats in a luxurious country hotel to a warm room after a day at the coast there are plenty of short breaks still to enjoy.
Head to the Scottish Highlands where you can discover the amazing heights of Ben Nevis, or spend a day watching for bottlenose dolphins at the Moray Firth. With a great array of wildlife from rare birds of prey like Ospreys and Red Kites to red squirrels and puffins there is plenty to discover. Enjoy a day out with the knowledge that you will be returning to a warm and welcoming hotel.
Why not head out and explore the stunning Yorkshire coast with a stay at the Raithwaite Hall Hotel (opening in October) or the Mallayn Spot Hotel in the picturesque village of Goathland. Both hotels have excellent access to the Yorkshire Moors, Rievaulx Abbey and the stunning seaside towns of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay. With so much to see and do you’ll be out for the whole day, so don’t forget to wrap up warm.
