They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, and luckily for me these pictures are pretty impressive! Nestled on the shores of Lake Windermere,  Low Wood Bay Resort is the ideal base for making the most of everything The Lakes has to offer. The resort is perfectly located slap bang in the middle of Bowness on Windermere and Ambleside, which are the two most popular lake side villages in the area. Fill your short break with picturesque walking trails, hire a boat on the lake and peruse the boutique shops of Bowness and Ambleside.

The most exciting part of the resort is that it has its very own water sports centre and marina! So why not try your hand at waterskiing, wakeboarding, kayaking or even power boating on your trip? There’s a gorgeous spa waiting for you on your return back to the hotel if you’re left feeling a little wind swept!

Once you’ve worn yourself out with some exhilarating action on the lake, a delicious evening meal will be awaiting the winner of our competition (and those lucky enough to have dinner deals booked with us!). The Windermere Restaurant and Langdale Lounge & Bar are the perfect spots for winding down on the banks of the beautiful waters – check out the Gustav Klimt art work in the restaurant!

You can also make the most of some ‘you’ time during your stay with the Low Wood Bay Leisure Club. My first stop would definitely be the beauty salon to indulge in some well-earned treatments – especially with the inclusion of Repechage products! Whatever you plan on doing on a tip to The Lakes, the Low Wood Bay Resort has to be up there as one of the best hotels in the area. So, whether you fancy winning the break in our competition or want to book a break of your own, make sure this is your first port of call!

The Lake District

Let’s face it, there’s nothing more ‘British’ than a short break in the countryside! With rolling hills, still lakes and some of the most amazing local foods you’re ever likely to taste, The Lakes is by far my favourite British destination. I’ve stayed in a few hotels around the area, from tiny B&B’s to a very exciting themed hotel, and every time I’ve fallen more and more in love with the place.

I can’t think of many things I’d enjoy doing more than hiring a boat and taking it out onto Windermere or Coniston Water. Barely anyone around, only the sound of water lapping against your boat as you travel along the picturesque lake…heaven. But if you fancy a little more than peace and quiet, you don’t have to go far to find some good music and glamorous cocktails. Come night time the bars and restaurants of Bowness-on-Windermere come alive, so if you’re in need of amazing food and truly local drinks, it’s certainly the place to be.

But don’t take my word for it. Go and see this wonderful part of the UK for yourself on a short break or better still, enter our competition and win it all for free!
