This week #TeamSuperBreak’s Millie was lucky enough to head to the West End to see the brand-new production of ‘The Bodyguard’. Take a peek at her review below and find out more about the show!
‘Having never seen the original film before (I know!), I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, my initial impression of the show was that it was slick, highly memorable and visually outstanding. The costume design and staging were meticulously thought out and Beverley Knight’s singing skills were enough to blow the roof off the Dominion Theatre! The story was authentic and thoughtful and the characters were each given a worthy complexity, which is often rare in modern theatre. With Beverley Knight as the glamorous yet troubled Rachel Marron and Ben Richards as her dashing bodyguard, Frank Farmer, the show was already bound for success.
As well as an impressive plot, the performance was filled with feel-good tunes and heartfelt ballads from the late, great Whitney Houston. My favourites? ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ & ‘I Have Nothing’, although ‘I Will Always Love You’ was certainly impressive! I really recommend you go and see the show if you want a sparkling, dramatic performance with plenty of well-known songs and polished choreography. 5 stars from me!
