Just imagine… You’re a vital member of a team engaged in one of the biggest new projects your Industry has seen in years –and you’ve been working flat out all day. I’m sure the last thing you’d want is a bunch of tour operators and ticket agents suddenly descending on in your local boozer. But not the cast of Made In Dagenham, the exciting new British musical that has its World Premier at London’s Adelphi Theatre coming up on the 5th of November (remember, remember).
The show, set in the 1960’s, tells the inspirational real-life story of a group of Ford Dagenham workers whose strike for equal pay for women was one of the turning points in the battle for equality. Made In Dagenham is written by Richard Bean (One Man, Two Guvnors) and Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer The Opera) with music by multi-award winning composer David Arnold. Former Bond Girl and St Trinian’s alumni, Gemma Arterton, leads a phenomenal cast as Rita O’Grady, the factory worker who takes on the Ford corporation and union corruption, with double Oliver winning Director Rupert Goold (Macbeth and Enron) at the helm. What a pleasure and a privilege it was to join the Made In Dagenham cast after work, to swap stories over a few pints, and get some insider insights into of the most eagerly anticipated British Musicals for decades.
