Travel a few short minutes from London’s West End and you will find yourselves in the Latin-American barrio of Washington Heights, New York, on the hottest day of the summer. You will also find yourself at one of the hottest shows in town, In The Heights, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda whose musical Hamilton is currently the hottest ticket on Broadway. In The Heights features a pulsating mix of rap, bodegas and salsa music, performed by a phenomenal cast of all-singing-and-dancing actors who capture the audience’s hearts from the very first number –and keep them riveted to the very last beat. In The Heights also has its own Hamilton, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, in the role of Daniela. ALL the cast, without exception, are incredible performers, but Victoria (seen previously wowing audiences in Flashdance and A Chorus Line) has the power to effortlessly conjure up the entire spirit, and magic, of the barrio with a single word, look, gesture or inflection. In The Heights is playing at the Kings Cross Theatre, London, until 3rd January 2016 and is wholeheartedly recommended for anyone in search of a great night out to build a London Theatre Break around.
