If these bursts of sunshine we’ve been having aren’t enough of a sign that summer’s slowly coming over the horizon, the number of sensational music events coming to the UK over the next couple of months make it clear that the season is on the way!
Whether you’re a fan of classic bands or the latest hit singers from shows like The X Factor, just check out the fantastic acts coming to the O2 Arena from now until the end of May and you’ll see why the arena has firmly established itself as a leading music venue, both in London and the whole UK.
We might still be enjoying the spring at the moment, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait any longer for some of the world’s biggest musical acts to head to our shores. The star who’s making big headlines at the moment is Whitney Houston, who plays on Monday 26 April and Wednesday 28 April at the O2 as part of her long-awaited comeback tour, which has divided the critics but seems to be a hit with the fans.
But if you see your tastes as a little more ‘artistic’, old-school rock fans will love Australian Pink Floyd at the O2 on Friday 23 April, the world-famous tribute act that brings the classic band’s songs into the 21st century and is supposed to be every bit as good as the original. Even though they’re more my dad’s taste than mine, I did enjoy the band’s songs when they played at Live 8 a few years ago, and they still sound as fresh as ever – and with the fantastic laser displays and other special effects updated for the huge arena, it’s one tribute show that 70s music fans won’t want to miss.
But the music doesn’t stop there, with next month being even bigger for O2 events, including the eagerly-awaited Black Eyed Peas supported by Cheryl Cole on 5 and 6 May, as well as a special return show on the 27th. Fans of new music can look forward to O2 shows from Rihanna on 10 and 11 May and Lady Gaga, who closes the month on a high note on the 30th and 31st of May.
