A few weeks ago the word on everyone’s lips here at Superbreak Towers was ‘party’. The party in question was the very special, highly anticipated, all staff, all singing, all dancing 30th Birthday Anniversary bash. I wrote a while ago about our company heritage and what it meant for Superbreak to be established for 30 years, so I was hugely excited for the celebratory party to finally arrive!
The party took place at the Royal York Hotel – one of the most iconic hotels in our beautiful city. It was a black tie affair, so after getting glammed up I was excited to see my friends and co-workers in their finery. Walking in to the bar where everyone was gathered at the start of the evening, I hardly recognised some of my colleagues who wore an impressive array of glamorous gowns and tuxedos.
Topping the excitement of seeing each other all dolled up was the excitement surrounding the amazing celebratory party cake which was complete with iced caricatures of our team of Directors! It looked too good to eat (but we did, and it was delicious).
After cooing over the cake and comparing frocks it was time to make our way into the main hall where the tables were laid beautifully with blue and orange decorations and the empty dance floor beckoned. Dinner was a three-course affair; I opted for a pâté starter, chicken main course and strawberry cheesecake dessert, all of which were truly delicious (spy on some foody snaps on our Instagram page!)
Once we’d finished devouring our dinners and sipping on several glasses of wine we were lucky enough to be entertained by the magnificent Jamie Raven, magician and ‘mind reader’. Jamie has performed for a huge range of celebrities and public figures including Her Majesty The Queen! He had a really sharp sense of humour and got us all in the mood to party into the night by playing some rather cheeky all-staff games, as well as wowing us with his magical skills.
A final highlight of the evening was when the ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the party were crowned. The winners could be none other than David and Tracey, who’ve both been with the company since the very beginning. After the cake had been cut we all braved the dance floor and in true Brit style danced the longest conga line I’ve ever been in. It was such a brilliant evening, enjoyed by all, and the perfect way for Superbreak to celebrate being established for 30 years.
