The NME awards are one of the most recognised awards in the music world. Formed in 1953 the awards tune in on the best modern bands of the time, with past winners including Cliff Richard, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Lulu, Manic Street Preachers, Blur, Travis and Radiohead even Marilyn Manson and Kylie have made the list. Last night the ceremony took place at London’s Brixton Academy with Muse picking up Best British Band and My Chemical Romance taking the best International Band award.
Laura Marling, winner of Best solo artist, will play at the Honeyfest event for those seeking Wiltshire breaks this April while U2 have announced they will headline at Glastonbury, winner of Best festival for the 3rd year in a row. Fans of My Chemical Romance can see them at this year’s T in the Park festival or for a more intimate experience venture to the village of Dores near Inverness for the best small festival RockNess. If wellies and tents are not for you then find a Milton Keynes hotel to stay in and see Dave Grohl the winner of the God like genius award when he plays there with the Foo Fighters in July or sample a Manchester hotel to see best Album winner Arcade Fire when they play at the MEN Arena in August.
Who will you be looking forward to see in the coming year? Will you be heading out to any festivals over the summer?
