The nominations for this year’s Ivor Norvello Awards have been announced and popular acts on the diverse list include Tinie Tempah, Kylie, The xx and Plan B. These prestigious awards, which recognise excellence in song writing, have categories including Best Song Musically and Lyrically, Best Television Soundtrack, Best Original Video Game Score and Songwriter of The Year. The awards will take place in London on May 19 and the nominations are already causing a huge buzz around the industry.
The Ivor Norvello Awards are highly sought after by artists due to the nominations coming from professional song writers. They are also well known for their commitment to song writing talent over commercial viability, which is why so many songs and artists that are nominated may not always make the UK Top 40.
Past winners of a Norvello Award include Bryan Adams who has just announced his tour including dates at the O2 Arena and Paolo Nutini who will play at the refurbished York Barbican Centre later this year.
Who do you think will walk away with the awards?
