Wendy treated the whole family to a whirlwind London adventure with tickets to see Robbie Williams live at The O2 included. Read on for her review of the evening…
I attended the Robbie Williams concert on the 9th July as I am his biggest fan and have previously seen him many times in Glasgow.
I took my husband and children with me. My husband isn’t a fan of Robbie and my kids had never been to a concert before or to London, so both firsts for them aged 12 and 9.
We stayed at the Travelodge Docklands which we chose because it was close to The O2 and for ease of getting back to the hotel late at night with the kids. The hotel was good with a decent breakfast in the morning.
I loved the concert, however it wasn’t a standard Robbie concert as it was themed around his swing album. My husband enjoyed it and was even videoed by my boys singing at one point, which they thought was very entertaining as he isn’t a fan. My husband did say he enjoyed the concert, however would have preferred if Robbie had performed more of his own original songs like Let Me Entertain You.
Prior to the show we had dinner at Frankie and Benny’s, my kids favourite and then had a drink at the bar which was very relaxing.
After the show although it was very busy we were back at the hotel within 20 minutes via the Docklands Light Railway – a very enjoyable evening overall.
As this was my first trip to London with my children we stayed for 2 nights and the next day we jumped on the Sightseeing Bus Tour which was fantastic and the kids really enjoyed it. We saw all of the main sights and the tour guides were excellent sharing some very entertaining and factual stories.
The following day we visited the Tower of London and then took the Thames Cruise back to Westminster, and arrived at Big Ben just as it struck 12 O’clock. We walked past Downing Street and then had lunch which again was in Frankie and Benny’s.
I asked my youngest son what was his highlight of the trip and his reply was “Seeing Big Ben”!
I have been to London many times with work on my own, however thoroughly enjoyed my recent trip seeing London through my boys eyes.
