SuperBreak’s Maisie couldn’t WAIT to see the brand new super group, McBusted perform live at the O2 Arena in London. Read all about her exciting evening in her latest event review…
When McBusted announced they would be forming a ‘Super Band’ and touring the UK together this Spring my school friend, Holly and I decided there was no way we would be missing it! The opportunity cropped up through SuperBreak and of course, I put my name down straight away.
After checking into the swanky 4* Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt – where we were greeted by 3 porters all offering to carry our luggage and get us some drinks – we quickly freshened up and made our way across London to the O2 arena. Despite having to battle through the hordes of manic Friday night commuters, it still only took around 30 minutes to get there on the tube, giving us plenty of time to indulge in some pre-concert food and drinks!
Getting the crowd in the mood and up on their feet to begin with were E of E, The Three Dudes and Young Brando. But then came the real reason why 15,000 ladies had flocked to the O2 – the eagerly awaited McBusted finally made their grand entrance and wowed the audience in a slick retro saloon car!
The show-stopping performance kicked off with a rendition of Busted’s ‘Air Hostess’, and was followed by what felt like the quickest 1.5 hours of my life! With every single person now up on their feet singing, dancing and screaming. The ‘Super Group’ entertained the crowd with a mixture of all the well-known McFly and Busted classics including some of my personal favourites ‘5 Colours in Her Hair’, ‘Obviously’ and ‘What I Go to School For’.
Possibly the most spectacular moment though was when the boys floated down from the ceiling of the arena on a UFO during ‘Star Girl’ – I did wonder what the security lady meant when she told me to look at the roof during ‘Star Wars’ but it all makes sense now!
All good things have to come to an end though, and before I knew it, it was time for the show’s Grand Finale – and what better way to finish than with a version of Busted’s ‘Year 3000’!
This show was undoubtedly one of the best concerts I have ever been and left both me and Holly feeling on a real high! It was a super nostalgic night for us and brought back many childhood memories!
What’s more, we even managed to fit in some celebrity spotting in the suite and got to meet the lovely Maisie Smith, better known as the Eastenders actress who plays Tiffany Butcher.
Here’s to hoping they do another tour next year, and if they do I would definitely be first to get my hands on some tickets!
