Last week, Superbreakers Emily and Aisling saw the Grammy Award-Winning and multi-platinum selling artist, Drake perform live at the O2 Arena in London. Read on to find out what they made of the show…

1. What event did you go to see and why?
Emily: I went to see Drake because I like to listen to his music.

Aisling: I went to see Drake at the O2 Arena with my friend for her birthday. We went to see him live in Birmingham back in 2012 and he was absolutely amazing, so we decided to treat ourselves to see him again.

2. What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
Emily: I knew it would be a great show and it didn’t disappoint!

Aisling: Drake was amazing! As I had seen him perform live before I sort of knew that he would put on a great show, and he certainly didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere in the arena was just phenomenal!

3. Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
Emily: I have been several times before and the facilities at the O2 are great. We went into the VIP Bar before the show started and the drink prices were fairly reasonable.

Aisling: No, I’ve been many times. Over the last two months, I’ve been to three different events at the O2 Arena, slowly starting to become an O2 Arena addict! It offers a wide range of great facilities and its a great place to enjoy a night out even if you are not going to a concert.

4. Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?Emily: I have eaten in the restaurants before and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. This time we arrived a little later and ordered food to the box which arrived quickly and was actually really nice food.

Aisling: I enjoyed a meal and some cocktails at The Slug and Lettuce. The O2 Arena offers a number of different restaurants to suit everyone’s tastes. I would recommend getting to the O2 Arena early when there is an event going on though as it does get extremely busy.

5. Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
Emily: We stayed at the Tavistock Hotel and I was pleasantly surprised to say it is a budget hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Aisling: As we were travelling for a special occasion, we decided to treat ourselves to a stay at the 4* Rubens at the Palace in Victoria. This was my second stay at The Rubens at the Palace and yet again, I wasn’t disappointed. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, its an absolute gem! The hotel is located right in the heart of Victoria close to Buckingham Palace and approximately 30-40 minutes away from the O2 Arena on the tube with just one tube change at Westminster. The service is outstanding and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a memorable stay.

6. How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
Emily: We got to the O2 Arena by tube with only 1 change at Green Park, it was very straightforward.

Aisling: We travelled from our hotel to the O2 Arena on the tube from Victoria, there isn’t a direct tube line between Victoria and North Greenwich where the arena is, so you do have to travel on the Circle and District line to Westminster where you can catch the Jubilee line out to North Greenwich. I am used to travelling around London now, tube travel is definitely the easiest and quickest way to get around, and it’s also one of the cheapest ways of getting around as taxis’ tend to be quite expensive. If you are planning on using the tube while in London I would recommend purchasing an Oyster Card as they offer discounted rates on tube travel.

7. How does The O2 compare to other venues?
Emily: The O2 Arena in London is my favourite venue for a concert. Its always well organised and easily accessible.

Aisling: I personally think the O2 Arena is one of the best venues in the country and especially the best in London. It has so much to offer with regards to the choice of restaurants and bars, as well as a range of other entertainment venues. It is always my first choice as venue to go and see a concert!

8. Have any other events caught your eye this year?
Aisling: Lots of events have caught my eye this year… Lady Gaga, Kylie and Michael Buble!
