Superbreak’s Trade Sales Development Manager, Chris Cundall took his family to see WWE Wrestlemania at The O2 Arena this week! Here’s what they made of their visit to London…
We booked this break as a surprise for my two children for a Christmas present, and it was to be their first ever arena event. My children love WWE and have been watching it for the past 9 months, and secretly too its a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.
My two boys, who are 6 and 4 years old, packed their bags excitedly with wrestling figures, replica belts and T-Shirts. We stayed for two nights at the Radisson Edwardian Kenilworth Hotel, travelling down by train from York.
We headed down on Sunday morning and on arrival into London we headed to the hotel to drop off our bags. We then caught the tube towards Buckingham Palace to see the end of the London Marathon and to buy the boys a well earned ice cream.
From there we walked across Green Park and caught the tube to London Bridge to go and experience The Shard. Being 73 floors high and looking across central London was a sight to behold. It was breathtaking although my youngest son, Jake, thought that there were no windows and would not go too close to the edge. The views though are excellent and you can see all of London’s top landmarks. I am glad I did it as it was such an exciting experience for all of us, however for a family of four the London Eye may offer better value for money.
When we left The Shard we headed back to the hotel to get changed before eating dinner at Belgo’s – Covent Garden. Belgo’s is a place I have always wanted to eat as all of my family love mussels and frites (as well as a personal love of Belgian Trappist Beers!). The meal was brilliant and we all slept very well. The next day following breakfast we headed to the London Duck Tour. The boys loved it and it was a great way to see some of the main tourist attractions in London. After this we walked around London and had lunch before heading to the O2.
We ate at the Slug and Lettuce (50% off food on a Monday) and then headed into the Arena. The atmosphere was amazing and the look on the boys’ faces was brilliant. The lively crowd added to what was a professional show with some of the WWE’s biggest superstars. The boys loved the show from, cheering, booing and still smiling 3 days after. Jake was so tired he fell asleep as we headed back to the hotel. They found the whole thing a big adventure from start to finish and it was a pleasure seeing the smile on their faces.
