The Stereophonics were one of those bands that reminded me of my university days studying, going out and generally having good times. When I heard they were touring for their new album, I jumped at the chance to see them at the impressive O2 Arena in London.
As I was travelling from York I commuted to London on train, which take less than 2 hours (1 hour 52 minutes to be precise) station to station. In my opinion the only way to travel if you live nearby the east coast mainline as so much more less hassle than driving into Central London.
Once I arrived at Kings Cross station it was only less than 25 minutes via London Underground and DLR to my hotel at London Docklands. I was staying at 3* Ibis Styles which was only a short commute to the O2 and great value for money, spacious and clean.
After check in at the hotel and a quick shower and change I went to the O2 arena. Despite seeing several acts there before it still wows me every time I visit, given the sheer size of the impressive complex. Before the gig we went for some food inside the complex which has an array of restaurants and bars to keep you entertained before and after any O2 event. We also had a few drinks and the excitement was building from the crowd.
The gig started and could not help be astonished by the stage, atmosphere and music being played. The Stereophonics played many of their new tracks as well as the old ones that reminding me of my younger days which had me out my seat most of the night, dancing in the aisles!
After the gig we went back to the hotel that had a bar open until the early hours and had a few more drinks before heading to bed. The twin room itself was very comfortable that had all the usual commodities (TV, Coffee/ Tea making facilities and en-suite). Also we woke up to a very hearty buffet cooked breakfast and considering the price of the hotel it was overall amazingly good value.
