Superbreak’s Pricing & Inventory Manager, Simon Mason saw the Pet Shop Boys at The O2 Arena recently! Red his review to find out how the show went…
What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
The performance was fantastic. The vocals and music were great, the singers and dancers wore colourful and unique attire, a large projector screen was also used to display videos and a laser performance was also included on many songs. The show was better than I expected, when the Pet Shop Boys played their older hits the Arena went wild, they also played songs from their new album which although went down well they were not as well received by the audience as the classics.
Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
This was my second visit to the O2 Arena. The O2 has great facilities, lots of food and beverage spots on entering the venue.
Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?
We ate in the Spur Bar and Grill within the venue. The food was nice, the restaurant was not busy as we arrived early so we had no waiting around to be seated and the food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering.
Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
I stayed at the Imperial Hotel on Russell Square in an Executive Twin. The room was clean and quite large and the bathroom had recently been refurbished. We had a drink in the hotel bar on our return and was impressed with the bar prices for London. The hotel is approximately 8 miles from the O2 Arena
How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
We travelled by underground. The route was Russell Square to Green Park on the Piccadilly line, then Green Park to North Greenwich on the Jubilee line. The journey took approximately 40-45 minutes and although we had the change of lines it was a straight forward journey
How does The O2 compare to other venues?
From the other Arena venues I have visited the O2 is one of the best, the O2 for the Pet Shop Boys was two thirds full so although the atmosphere was good I think it would have been even better with a capacity crowd. When I have visited other Arenas which are smaller they have been full but the O2 still generates a good atmosphere for its size
Have any other events caught your eye this year?
The Premier League Darts (could not attend as was on holiday), another event is Lee Evans which takes place in 2014
