When we started selling tickets for Beyonce’s Mrs Carter Show at the O2 Arena, they went like hot cakes in Superbreak HQ as well as the big wide world! Find out what these lovely Superbreak lot thought of their trip to the O2 and Queen Bey herself…

 1) Our Customer Relations Co-ordinator Isobel Pendlebury went along with her daughter to see Beyonce and said…

I have been lucky enough to see Beyonce twice, both performances at the 02 and both times she has not disappointed. The woman is incredible. We stayed at the Flemings Mayfair, which is a great hotel in an excellent location.

We took the Jubilee Line from Green Park all the way to the O2.  I would advise that people arrive early we got there at 4:30, not only to avoid the queues for the restaurants, but to be amongst the excitement of the crowds. Most restaurants offer a pre-show menu, some as little as £15.00 for two courses. We did this and also had buy one get one free on cocktails which certainly gets you in the mood for what is to come in the Arena.

We arrived at 18:30 tickets in hand, there was a quick security check and then enter the Arena!! 8pm and Luke James arrived on stage, I had never heard of him to be honest but he was pretty good. 8.30pm and Luke finishes his act…. Not long now…..9pm WOW words cannot describe how amazing this woman is every song she belts out and just when you think nothing gets better than this, she flies over to the second stage and we are so much closer.

My daughter is 19 and Beyonce has been her idol for so long, every little snippet of information is in Charlottes head, she has been lucky enough to see Beyonce at Glastonbury too! This show was fabulous and we didn’t want it to end. at 11pm it was time to go! The crowds waiting to enter the tube station were all on a high and the queues dispersed quite quickly.

The staff at both the Arena and controlling the crowds outside is brilliant and so helpful. All in all an amazing time.  The weather was glorious too! We decided to go to Green Park for a picnic the following day and had a lovely chilled out day before our return to York travelling on Grand Central train ours being the first stop.

2) CCS Assistant Lily Pearson and Sales Executive Scott James also got to see the diva perform. We caught interviewed them both about their experience

1. What event did you go to see and why?

Lily: Beyonce. Knew she would put on a fantastic show and my daughter is a great fan and was desperate to see her live.

Scott: Beyonce as I have always been a fan but never been able to get tickets before so this was the perfect opportunity.

2. What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?

Lily: Yes. Her entrance on stage was very dramatic. She is a great live performer her singing and dancing were fantastic. Great visual effects and costume changes.

Scott:  The concert was fantastic with amazing vocals and a great backdrop of lighting to form the set. She was professional throughout and gave it 110%

3. Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?

Lily: No Have been several times.. Facilities are great with many food outlets and bars also attractions such as climbing to the top of the O2.

Scott: We had been to the O2 several times before and think it’s a great venue with so much to do, we decided to stay in the arena after the concert and have a few drinks in one of the many bars.

4. Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?

Lily: Ate at our hotel before the event which was nice, have also eaten at a few of the outlets at the O2 on different occasions but can get quite busy so need to allow for plenty of time.

Scott: We decided to eat in the Suite rather than rush around and found the food really competitively priced compared to the restaurants around the arena and very fast service.

5. Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?

Lily: Ibis Style Excel. Great value for money on a weekend and great location for O2, only two stops.

Scott: The Menzies Regent Place in Chigwell, Essex, Great hotel with the out of London feel complete with Gardens and terrace area ideal for relaxing in the sunshine.

6. How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?

Lily: DLR and tube just one stop on each. Also leaving the O2 the tube we needed was not as busy as the tube into central London.

Scott: We travelled by the Tube to the O2 which was fast and easy.

7.How does The O2 compare to other venues?

Lily: I haven’t been to any other concert venues so can’t compare.

Scott:  In a different league offering so many other Bars and Restaurants under one roof plus giving a great sound within the arena and I always find it has such a great atmosphere, especially on sell out events.

8. Have any other events caught your eye this year?

Lily: Yes. I am lucky enough to be seeing Barbra Streisand and Rod Stewart next month.

Scott: Not so far
