Our very own Digital Content Exec and blogger, Vikki visited The O2 Arena last week for the first time! Here’s what she made of the Channel 4 Comedy Gala…

Anyone who knows me will be happy to agree that I really will laugh at anything! So, when the opportunity arose for me to visit The O2 Arena for this years’ Channel 4 Comedy Gala I jumped at the chance! I’ve been lucky enough to see the likes of Michael McIntyre, Peter Kay and Jimmy Carr already, but the line-up for the Comedy Gala was nothing short of mind-blowing for a comedy geek like myself.

As it was my first trip to The O2 and with me not being the savviest of navigators, I planned my journey to the hotel (Travelodge London Docklands) well in advance – much to the amusement of the girls in the office! Although not in the most convenient of locations, it was still pretty easy to get to The O2 – if you jump on the Jubilee Line from Canning Town Tube station, it’s only 2 stops to North Greenwich and The O2.

As we made our way into The O2 we were blown away by the great selection of bars and restaurants to keep us busy while we waited for the doors to open. With all our favourite places under one roof it was hard to choose where to eat, but we opted for the tried and tested Nandos.

The show itself was one of the best events I’ve ever been to. Among the incredible line-up were: Jo Brand, Jonathon Ross, Russell Brand, Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Jack Dee, Kevin Bridges (by far my favourite), Warwick Davies, Alan Carr, Miranda Hart and many, many more! The opening performance from Diversity was an extra treat too! It only took about half an hour for the tears of laughter to start rolling and that was it, I was in hysterics for the rest of the night. Safe to say I’ll be boring my friends with the long list of jokes for the foreseeable future!

As my first trip to The O2 it couldn’t have been more impressive. A really spectacular venue filled with atmosphere and everything you could possibly want. I’m lucky enough to be seeing Michael Buble, Cirque du Soleil AND the ATP Tennis there later this year, and after the success of the Comedy Gala I’m even more excited!
