Superbreak’s Customer Relations Co-ordinator, Isobel Pendlebury got the chance to see her favourite ever artist perform at The O2 Arena last week. here’s what she made of Barbra Streisand…

There are two performers who I have wanted to see more than anyone else – the first was Billy Connolly who is now ticked off my bucket list. But my favourite person ever is Barbra Streisand. She is a legend and I never thought I would see her live. I cannot begin to describe my excitement when I got tickets to see my all time favourite performer.  I drove everyone in the office and at home absolutely mad. I wouldn’t stop going on about it!! My youngest daughter can not understand that I feel the same about Barbra as she does about Beyonce!! Just wait until my daughter reaches 55, I wonder if a) Beyonce will still be around and b) will she sound as good!

We arrived at our hotel, The Holiday Inn Regents Park. I found this to be in an excellent location being just a short walk from Great Portland Street tube station. We were able to check in at 12:30 as the room was ready for us.  We found the staff to be very friendly and the room was comfortable. We headed of to Camden Town. The weather was glorious, always a bonus when you are sightseeing. After a couple of hours walking round the markets we headed back, stopping off at Costa very close to the hotel for a quick bite to eat.

After getting ready we took the tube one stop to Baker Street and changed for the Jubilee Line to take us to North Greenwich and arrived at around 16:30. Time for a drink or two! We did a lot of people watching. As you can imagine there were some interesting sights, some casual dress, lots of people in glitzy evening wear, both men and women,. Everyone looked overwhelmed to be attending the concert and so excited.

And then…….the intros started, I was beside myself!!! I was actually here at the O2 about to watch the person I had been waiting to see for ever. She appeared from nowhere.  If like me people were wondering if she still had it, she did by the bucket load. She was simply amazing. I was sorry that she preferred no cameras but I can still say that I have seen Barbra Streisand perform live. I wasn’t too impressed with her son! But her sister wasn’t too bad. Barbra looked amazing, a little unsteady but she is 71 after all.  I was surprised to learn that in 50 years she has only done 93 concerts!! My favourite song of the night was People who need People. I was singing it for days afterwards.  The weather was glorious on the Sunday and we walked through Regents Park to Primrose Hill. We got the 16:50 Grand Central train home and arrived back to York at 18:40.  I had a brilliant weekend.
