As a fan of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Takeaway, SuperBreak’s Robert couldn’t wait to take the whole family to The O2 Arena in London to see the Takeaway on Tour. Find out what they made of the show in his latest event review…

Last weekend we enjoyed a family trip to London. We arrived into London early and headed straight on the tube to the Tower of London to see the poppies that we had heard about on the news. By November over 800,000 ceramic poppies will be planted around the Tower to commemorate the fallen soldiers of WWI. Having visited the WWI battlefields of Flanders earlier this year, it was an excellent reminder of events of the war and a great way for my sons to visualise the scale of loss during the war.

As the weather was amazing we were able to explore places we wouldn’t normally visit around the Tower such as the St Katharine Docks to see the yachts and Gloriana, the Queen’s Row Barge. We then crossed over Tower Bridge to get some pictures of the city and the Tower of London from the other side of the Thames and to have a closer look at HMS Belfast.

We took the tube from London Bridge to The O2 Arena at North Greenwich for the highlight of our weekend – the matinee showing of Ant and Dec’s Takeaway on Tour.

The show was excellent and featured all of the highlights of the Saturday night TV show from a Little Ant and Dec interview to the Ant v Dec Challenge which Dec triumphed at. Celebrity guests included Chesney Hawkes and Riverdance and Joey Essex had the challenge of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get out of my Ear’ which was very amusing. They even selected a very lucky lady from an audience of 12,000 people to play Win the Ads, which she somehow won.

Overall, this was a great family show and if Ant and Dec decide to go on tour again, we will definitely be buying tickets again.
