As we wave goodbye to summer 2012 (although it’s debateable if it ever turned up at all) we must also bid farewell to the festival season. Festivals are all about seeing your favourite bands in the great outdoors, come rain or shine and it’s certainly been an unforgettable few months.
Sadly, it’s now time to put my tent and camping stove away until next year.
For anyone who’s mourning the end of the summer festivals as much as I am, there’s no need to despair. A number of festival favourites will be touring the UKthroughout the winter months. You can see some of your most memorable acts at The O2 Arena to see you through until 2013. Wellies optional.
The Black Keys
Their main stage set at Leeds Festival blew me away this year, so it was music to my ears when The Black Keys announced their arena tour this winter. With flawless set lists and energy in abundance, I don’t doubt they’ll be as amazing as ever.
From the classic singles ‘Next Girl’ and ‘Howlin’ For You’ to their latest catchy endeavour ‘Gold on the Ceiling’ this is a live set you shouldn’t miss!
Playing at The O2 Arena on 12th and 13th December
Hailing from the exotic location of Trinidad, Nicki Minaj has been taking the pop world by storm for the last two years and shows no signs of wavering.
Her performance at V Festival last month went down a storm and was the perfect opportunity to show off her quirky and theatrical performance style. Her ever-growing collection of hits will no doubt be just as well received at The O2 this October.
Playing at The O2 Arena on 30th October
After a four year hiatus, The Killers came back with a bang this summer, playing a stadium-worthy set at V Festival at the end of August in support of their long-awaited fourth studio album.
I’ve seen The Killers twice in the past and they’ve put on a spectacular show each time. With new material added to their repertoire, their highly anticipated winter tour will be bigger and better than ever.
Playing at The O2 Arena on 16th and 17th November
Madness have been as busy as ever on the festival circuit this summer. From playing Coachella Festival in Californiaback in April to closing the Olympic Games, this has been the summer of Madness. With their instantly recognisable and contagious hits from ‘One Step Beyond’ to ‘Baggy Trousers’ and ‘Our House’, this is one band you should see live to see what all the fuss is about.
Playing at The O2 Arena on the 14th and 22nd of December
Did you go to any festivals this summer? Will you be going to any of these gigs?
