Event review by SuperBreak’s Trish…
1. What event did you go to see and why?
Country to Country, I noticed that Lady Antebellum were headlining and thought I definitely need to see them, so my friend Caroline and I headed on down to The O2 to see them.
2. What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
Well… it started at 4:15pm with Kip Moore and he set the tone of the performances for the night. He was excellent and once his set had finished Brantley Gilbert came on with his modern rocky take on Country Music. By this time we were really getting into the music and the atmosphere in the arena was amazing; it was a sell out and everyone was really enjoying themselves. Then it was Jason Aldeans slot, and boy he was great. He looked every inch the Country and Western Star. It is now on my shopping list to buy a couple of his albums. Lady Antebellum came on at 8:45pm and WOW! They were incredible. They really had the audience eating out of their hands – we all had a sing-along to ‘Islands In The Stream’, but they saved their biggest hit ‘Need You Now’ until last and I’m sure the roof lifted! I definitely want to go to this festival again, only next time I will make sure I’m wearing a stetson and cowboy boots.
3. Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
No, I have been many times before and I think the newly refurbished Amex VIP bar area is a great way to start the evening. There are many bars and restaurants around The O2 too, so you are spoilt for choice.
4. Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?
We ate at The O2 and enjoyed cheeseburgers, chips and a soft drink for £16.
5. Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
We stayed at the Hotel Russell, which was one stop from King’s Cross on the Undergound. It took us about 30 – 40 mins to get to The O2.
6. How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
We travelled on the tube from Russell Square to North Greenwich using our Oyster Cards. I must admit the underground is the best and quickest way to get around London
7. How does The O2 compare to other venues?
I think The O2 is great as wherever you sit you can all see the stage, even those high up as they have 3 big screens to watch. The staff at The O2 are great, very helpful and friendly, and this enhances the whole experience of your night out.
8. Have any other events caught your eye this year?
I have tickets for The Who in March, Paul McCartney in May, Fleetwood Mac in June and Bette Midler in July.
