Lucky Emily and Lexi from our Sales Team and Contact Centre travelled to London last week to see the magnificent Beyoncé! Find out what they made of the show and if Beyoncé lived up to her legendary status…
1. What event did you go to see and why?
Emily: I took my sister to see Beyoncé as I had seen the Mrs Carter show last year and it was amazeballs! So, when I was given the opportunity to go again I was so excited!
Lexi: I went to see Beyoncé as everybody had raved about how amazing her last tour was and how much of a great performance she gave.
2. What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
Emily: The show was amazing from start to finish. The stage sets were brilliant and it was by far the best concert I’ve ever been to!
Lexi: Beyoncé was amazing, not only is her voice as good as she sounds on the radio as she sang live throughout the show, but she managed to put on an amazing show with some of the most amazing dance moves ever.
3. Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
Emily: This was my second visit to the O2, it’s got great facilities and the staff were so helpful and always there to assist.
Lexi: I have been to the O2 several times now and every time I enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants. It is a great place to enjoy a night out even if you are not going into the arena.
4. Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?
Emily: We went to see what restaurants were on offer at the O2 to get a bite to eat before the concert started. We arrived to find a huge queue at TGI Fridays where there was over an hour wait so started to get worried we weren’t going to have time to eat. We soon found that as you walk further into the eating areas there’s plenty of choice and there were no queues at the restaurants not directly at the entrance!
Lexi: I enjoyed a meal and glass of wine at Pizza Express which was great, we managed to get in there just in time as there can be huge queues outside all the restaurants if you do not get in early enough.
5. Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
Emily: We stayed at the Ambassadors Bloomsbury which was easy walking distance from when we arrived into Kings Cross which was convenient. It took us around 45 minutes to get from the hotel to the London O2 Arena with only 1 change on the tube taking us straight to the O2 on the Jubilee Line.
Lexi: I stayed the Crowne Plaza London Docklands which I have stayed in twice before and it is great, I had a room which looked out over the Royal Victoria Docks and the O2 which was great. The staff are really friendly and they have a great pool area which I did not get the time to use.
6. How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
Lexi: I am used to travelling around London now but when you stay at this hotel you can get on the Emirates Cable Car which takes 8 minutes to cross the River Thames and get outside the O2. You can also use your Oyster Card and get a discounted rate by doing so. It closes at 8 so you can’t do it back, but the hotel was only 2 stops with one change so it was very quick.
7. How does The O2 compare to other venues?
Emily: I personally think the O2 is the best venue for a concert. It has facilities for eating, drinking, its indoor, got the tube right outside, and it’s a great atmosphere!
Lexi: The London O2 Arena just has so many restaurant and bar options for everyone, and like I say, it’s great if you’re at an event or if you just want a night out.
8. Have any other events caught your eye this year?
Emily: I’m going again to see Drake in a couple of weeks’ time!
Lexi: I have Backstreet Boys planned in a few weeks, and I will be attending Lady Gaga later this year, so all things to look forward to and to sample more of London and the O2 Arena.
