I treated my mum for her birthday as she is a keen fan of Alfie Boe – he has been on tour this year and recently did a show in Nottingham (my mum’s home town), so she had read some excellent reviews and was looking forward to our trip to London’s O2 Arena.
I was a bit concerned when his first 2 songs were very operatic, but he soon started singing some more easy listening songs which a less-opera loving person like me could enjoy! He was very interactive with the crowd and you could see he really enjoyed being on stage making his performance really enjoyable. His range of singing and variation of songs was fantastic and he was an excellent entertainer, also talking to the crowd in between his songs encouraging the crowd to sing with him at times. His accompanying musicians also worked extremely hard, making the whole evening a great event.
We stayed in the Aloft Excel Hotel which is a very modern hotel perfectly suited for our overnight stay – its location makes it a great place to stay if you’re visiting The O2 being only a 2 minute walk from the Prince Regent DLR stop.
