There is something satisfying about sitting and watching a Disney film, with nibbles around you and a darkened room you can easily sink off into another world. Disney’s new film Tangled had its premier in London on the 23rd January, screened at the prestigious Mayfair hotel the event saw a host of celebrities descend into an escapist world of princesses and adventure. Based on the traditional German fairytale Rapunzel Tangled goes on general release in the UK this Friday and is sure to be a huge hit with kids and grownups alike.

I’m sure I’ll be taking my niece to see it, as I did with Bolt, The Princess and the Frog and Toy Story 3 and with half term around the corner it’s the perfect way to entertain the children. If Tangled isn’t for you or your kids Touchstone Pictures Gnomeo & Juliet receives its UK premiere on 30th January at London’s famed Leicester Square. Directed by Shrek 2’s Kelly Asbury the film is based on the original Shakespeare play Romeo & Juliet, with a star studded cast and music by Elton John it ticks all the boxes for a sure fire hit. While the premier is just next week the film does not go on general release until February.  Also popping up in February, though I’m not convinced on this one, is the live-action film of Yogi the Bear, with Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo-boo there’s something for all the family.

With sequels planned for Cars, Kung Fu Panda and Happy Feet this year the animated film is a firm fixture in the film world.

What’s your favourite animated film? Do you prefer the old Disney classics like Snow White and Robin Hood or are you a fan of the Pixar and DreamWorks creations.
