SuperBreaker’s Diane and Annette ventured off to London’s O2 Arena last week to see the hilariously funny Miranda in her stand-up comedy tour. Read on for their reviews of the evening…
1. What event did you go to see and why?
Diane: Miranda. Love the tv program, so I really wanted to go see her stand up performance.
2. What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
Diane: The show was good and it was near enough a full house at the O2 Arena, I think the show could have been made better if the cast from the actual TV show made guests appearances, however as her first stand up comedy performance, it was well done.
Annette: Miranda Hart was amazing! A really funny show where we were reduced to tears in some parts. Her comedy is very observational and she kept the audience entertained throughout the show with her anecdotes – especially funny was her picking two members of the audience to go on an interval date who then came back on for the second half to tell us all how they got on – she did well as they seemed to hit it off, but I think the girl was more over the moon about on stage with Miranda!
She is looking really good, has obviously lost a lot of weight recently – must find out her secret! They were filming for a DVD during the show which was really exciting! I was really surprised that she had filled the O2 and at the age range that she attracted, everything from teenagers through to the older age range, probably due to her appearances in Call the Midwife, Not Going Out and Miranda.
3. Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
Diane: I’ve been to the O2 Arena in London a few times now and always love going, the place always has a great buzz about it no matter what event is on. The staff are always near by and on hand to direct you to seats or offer any form of assistance.
4. Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?
Diane: We went to Wagammama’s which is just outside of the O2 building, there is always a queue around the start of an event, so I would recommend getting there early, however the service is quick.
5. Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
Diane: I stayed at the Citadines Prestige Holborn Covent Garden, which is 2 minute walk from Holborn tube station. It was maybe 20-30 minutes by tube to The O2, but very easy to get to and in a great location for having a wander to Covent Garden/Leicester Square the next day
6. How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
Diane: We used Oyster Cards on the tube which are so convenient and recommended as you don’t have to queue to get a ticket. The tubes are so easy to use although they can get very busy.
7. How does The O2 compare to other venues?
Diane: The O2 is a great venue for all type of events.
8. Have any other events caught your eye this year?
Diane: Looking forward to seeing the tennis later in the year and I’ve also booked to take my Mum to see Alfie Bow in December.
