Summer’s almost here, and for many people the hottest season is synonymous with rocking out at the country’s top music events and festivals. But even if you’re not planning to get down and dirty in a tent at Glastonbury or one of the other festivals taking place over the next few months across the British Isles, you still have plenty to look forward to when checking out the gigs taking place at England’s most popular music venue – the O2 Arena.
June 2010 is like a dream come true for old-school rock fans, with some of the biggest names in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bringing their time-honoured classics to fans of all ages at the London arena over the next month. Even if you were too late to catch Rod Stewart – who’s bringing his biggest hits back to his home town this week – the good news is that there’s plenty more classic rock where that came from!
Anyone who has a taste for the 80s may harbour a secret – or not-so-secret – love for Bon Jovi, though the band’s legacy isn’t restricted to just that decade by any means. With a new tour promoting their brand new album, the well-received The Circle, Bon Jovi are as loud and energetic as ever, and they’re playing a number of dates from 10 April onwards.
If you’re a fan with musical talent, there’s even better news still, as the band have announced that they’ll be holding auditions to find their UK support act to open for them every night of their residency at the O2. An unmissable opportunity to get noticed as well as to play with your music heroes, it makes me wish I’d tried a bit harder with my guitar lessons!
But even if you’re not up on stage, you can still see the living legends performing their best hits with a show ticket and hotel of your choice from Superbreak. Whether you prefer to stay close to the O2 or in one of our other hotels in great locations across the capital is up to you.
Bon Jovi isn’t the only band that’s stood the test of time and is coming back for more, with June 15th being the London night of Aerosmith’s Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock Tour. With 40 years and 150 million album sales under their collective belts, Aerosmith is one band that refuses to stop or turn down the volume, and they’ll be playing hits from across the decades to fans young and old.
But if all this classic rock isn’t your thing, never fear – the O2 doesn’t exclusively play host to the heavyweights of yesteryear, and you’re sure to find a lot to get excited about when checking out our other music packages on offer.
From X Factor winner Leona Lewis, who’s performing on a number of dates, to singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, offering something a little more laid back on 30th June, there are many reasons to head down to London for some great music in June. And when you use our voucher code DV000149MPMLADMS when you book your break online, you could get £25 off all breaks throughout the month.
