At last weeks Liverpool Annual Tourism awards the Beatles Story won the People’s Choice Award. This award allowed members of the public to vote for their favourite attraction, restaurant, gallery or event in the city and was scooped by the popular attraction.
In the year that Liverpool celebrates 50 years of the Beatles and just before Sir Paul McCartney’s 70th birthday this award could not have come at a better time. First established in 1988 The Beatles Story moved to the Albert Docks in 1990 and has made its home there ever since. The lure of The Beatles draws millions of people into the city every year, from the bands beginnings at the famed Cavern Club to the Beatles shop in the Cavern Quarter, the childhood homes of John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney and a number of Beatles Tours there is plenty to discover for anyone enjoying a Liverpool break.
For fans of the Fab Four no trip would be complete without a visit to the award winning Beatles Story. Featuring an exhibition about the lives of The Beatles and exclusive memorabilia, a look at the solo careers of the band members and an interactive discovery zone the attraction is brimming with things to do. Heading over to the second site you can discover the Fab4D experience as the magic of 4D brings the music of the greatest band of all time to life.
Also among the winners at the Liverpool Annual Tourism awards were the cities extensive shopping centre Liverpool ONE which was named Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, Damian Jones from the Base2Stay Liverpool Hotel who picked up the Excellence in Customer Service Award and an accolade for Outstanding Contribution to the Tourism Sector went to The Beatles in recognition that 2012 is the 50th year since the band’s formation.
