Dedicated SuperBreakers Chris, Coral and Kat, treated their family and friends to a Monty Python treat at The O2 recently. Find out what they made of the night in their latest review.
1. What event did you go to see and why?
Chris: Monty Python – My Dad is a huge fan, and whilst I might have been a little too young for ‘Flying Circus’, ‘Life of Brian’ was one of my favourite films as a kid.
Coral: I went to see Monty Python. It was my husband who wanted to go as I was never a huge fan, but he really loved it!
Kat: Monty Python – I booked it as a surprise for my partner as they’re a big fan of the show.
2. What did you think of the performance? Did it live up to expectations?
Chris: Yes and no – It was great to see the Pythons live again and I would say that 50% of the show was amazing and 50% went over my head. Judging by the way my Dad was laughing all the way through I think he thought differently.
Coral: It was really good – much better than I had thought it was going to be. It had the audience glued right from the start. It was funny and had jokes/sketches for all ages. Everyone around us was laughing and had a great evening.
Kat: The show was amazing. It definitely lived up to its expectations!
3. Was this your first visit to The O2? What did you make of the facilities?
Chris: I previously worked for SuperBreak in London therefore I have been to The O2 loads of times and as always it is one of the best venues for live performance in the UK.
Coral: I have been many times to The O2 and the box is always great!
Kat: I have visited a few times and as always the facilities are of a good standard.
4. Did you enjoy a meal or drinks out before the event? If so would you recommend the places?
Coral: I went to Nando’s before the event as we were running late and it is quick and easy. I normally go to TGI Friday’s as it has really nice food and amazing cocktails!
Kat: We went for a meal and a drink after the show – I always go to Spur when I’m there.
5. Which hotel did you stay in and what did you think of it? How far was the distance to The O2?
Chris: I stayed at the Ibis Styles London Excel which whilst basic is in a perfect location for getting to and from the O2 and Central London.
Coral: I stayed at the Ibis Styles London Excel. It is a good value clean 3* hotel which is handy for transport links. I have stayed here many times as they always do a good rate.
Kat: We stayed at the Ibis Styles London Excel. It was a good base and took approximately 10 mins to get to The O2.
6. How did you get to The O2? How did you find travelling around London?
Chris: Try the Emirates Air Line cable car to get to The O2 – amazing views and the only way to arrive!
Coral: The hotel is only 2 stops away from The O2 which is very handy. I love to go to The O2 using the Emirates Cable Car which takes you from Royal Victoria Dock straight to the arena and it feels like you are travelling in style.
Kat: We went on the tube to The O2 , I find this is the best way and the easiest way to get around London.
7. How does The O2 compare to other venues?
Chris: In my opinion it’s the best in the UK, if not Europe
Coral: I have only ever been to the MEN arena and The O2 is much nicer, cleaner and bigger. The staff are friendly and do anything possible to make sure you have an excellent time.
Kat: If I could go to The O2 every time for a concert, I would! I had a brilliant evening!
8. Have any other events caught your eye this year?
Chris: As my Dad was treated to Monty Python, we are now treating my Mum to Enrique Iglesias in November – couldn’t really get much different.
Coral: That’s all my events done for the year now! I have been to The O2 about 5 times this year and that was my last one. I now need to save my pennies!
